Pacto Sumaco Participates in Expo Turismo Identidad 2026

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the Pacto Sumaco Community Tourism Center participated in Expo Turismo Identidad 2026 in Quito, an important event that brought together tourism initiatives from across Ecuador.

The Pacto Sumaco delegation was invited not only to showcase its destination at an exhibition stand, but also to participate in a panel discussion. This provided a valuable opportunity to share the community’s experience, promote its culture and natural heritage, and build new connections with visitors, tourism professionals, and potential partners.

Pacto Sumaco is located at the main entrance to Sumaco Napo-Galeras National Park, one of Ecuador’s most biodiverse protected areas. Strengthening community-led tourism creates sustainable economic opportunities for local families while increasing the value of conserving forests, wildlife, and the landscapes that attract visitors to the region.

We set a fundraising goal of $250 and raised $173.72 through donations. These contributions helped cover essential expenses associated with the community’s participation, including transportation, accommodation, meals, and outreach materials. Additional support from collaborating organizations helped make the trip and event participation possible.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed. Every donation matters—even $1 can help strengthen local livelihoods and support the long-term conservation of Sumaco’s forests and biodiversity.

Sumaco Conservation will continue organizing small fundraising campaigns for specific projects, allowing supporters to contribute directly to the initiatives that best match their interests. Through these focused campaigns, we hope to make conservation more transparent, accessible, and connected to tangible community needs.
