Community Tourism

We work alongside local communities to strengthen sustainable tourism in the Sumaco Biosphere Reserve, particularly within the buffer zone of Sumaco Napo-Galeras National Park.

Our Goal

We aim to support existing tourism initiatives and inspire new ones to:

Diversify local economies beyond small-scale agriculture.
Create higher income streams.
Improve public health by reducing the need for harmful pesticides.
Reduce deforestation pressures by promoting business models that align with forest conservation.

Ongoing work

We are currently collaborating with Pacto Sumaco’s Community Tourism Center and several families from the Pacto Sumaco community to help bring more visitors to Sumaco Napo-Galeras National Park and its buffer zone.
